Sabrage - Opening the Champagne.

At most weddings the Champagne is opened in the normal way. Marc wanted to show offf his skill with a sword at his wedding to Sue in Cambridge.

Sabrage involves breaking off the neck of the Champagne bottle with a sword. The sword is slid along the bottle hitting the neck at high speed. The force causes the neck to fracture just below the cork. It's difficult to photograph as the cork and a piece of glass fly off at high speed, you certainly don't want to stand in the way of it.

I don't recommend you try this at home!

Jozefa & Michael at Staunton Harold Hall

Jozefa & Michael's wedding took place on the 13th September 2008 at Staunton Harold Hall, followed by a reception in a marquee at Ticknall.

Jozefa & Michael had arranged the wedding from their home in Australia. They chose the beautiful Staunton Harold Hall for the ceremony and the reception was at Jozefa's parents house in nearby Ticknall.

These are a small selection of photographs from their sunny wedding.

Caroline & Toby in Devon

On the 30th August I travelled down to Devon for Caroline & Toby's wedding at Bidwell farm in Upottery.

They had one of the most unusual marquees I have seen, a giant Tipi.

Summer weddings - Emily & Scott in Northamptonshire

The past six weeks have been extremely busy with 12 weddings at all ends of the country. The school holidays are always a busy time for wedding photographers. I have been as far North as Edale in Derbyshire and as far south as Devon. I had one weekend with 3 weddings (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) all at opposite ends of the country.

Emily & Scott married back in July on a rare sunny day. The wedding took place at Abthorpe in Northamptonshire on the 24th July.

These are a very small slection of photographs and mostly featuring the couple. I always take lots of photographs of the guests as well and these can be viewed on my main website under the "view your wedding" link.
